Our Oceans, Our Future Exhibition
It was wonderful to welcome so many families to Great Bookham School on Tuesday 4th June who took their time to visit the school’s ‘Our Oceans Our Future’ Exhibition.
Four schools exhibited; Great Bookham Primary, Eastwick Junior, PolesdenLacey Infants and St Lawrence Primary all offering such varied stands.
The hall looked amazing with jellyfish hanging from the ceiling, fish round all the walls and a real beach in the corner. There were games to play, pledges to make as well as a 'sounds of the sea' station which was very popular. Children from all the schools displayed their 'wares' and then other children from each school visited in the afternoon with their teachers, parents and governors.
Great Bookham were honoured to welcomers Clare Curran, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning as well as local councillor for Bookham and Fetcham District. She talked to the children and spent time closely examining all of the wonderful artwork, models, poems, letters and posters and even played the games! We also welcomed the Head of Science, James Landon and Ruth Hopkins from The Howard Partnership. They were fascinated by what they saw and were most impressed with the quality of the work.
This was a huge collaboration between all the schools in the South Farnham Educational Trust and the Effingham Learning Partnership, generously funded by the American School Cobham, who paid for the coach transport so that all the schools could visit the Natural History Museum back in November to launch the project.
