On Sunday 21st April, Kelvin Mandeville, the caretaker at Great Bookham school took part in the London Marathon. Running for the school, he completed the full 26.2 miles in a fantastic 4 hours 31 minutes and has raised an amazing £1,626.00. All the money raised will go towards improving play facilities at the school.
Kelvin said, "It was an amazing day despite being really hard work and I am delighted with my time of 4 hours, 31 minutes and 28 seconds. Massive thanks to everyone who supported me at the event and all of my sponsors!"
Kelvin is a fantastic role model to the children at Great Bookham, his efforts inspired the whole school and that afternoon the children all competed in a mini-marathon. Year 6 Sports Crew led the warm-up sessions, acted as 'hares' and also ran with individuals to encourage them to keep going.
Well done and thank you, Kelvin!
